Equality HI in partnership with Hawaiʻi Island Like Hike ʻOhana and I Heart Hawaiʻi Island will be organizing a collaborative group hike for LGBTQ+ Pride Weekend, Sunday June 26, 2022!
TRAIL CONDITIONS: the Kaʻū Desert Trailhead on Highway 11; Round trip approx 4.5 miles, elevation change approx 692. Easy walk between the Kaʻū Desert Trailhead on Highway 11 and the Footprints shelter. Sections of initial trail are paved, but with steep inclines and occasional deep sand and uneven surfaces. Beyond that, walk becomes moderate level with some unstable rockery in some areas that lead to destination: Kaʻū Heart Rock Fissure.
BRING: Water, food(snacks at destination), hat, sun protection and rain gear.
POST HIKE BBQ: Coconut Island, Hilo
